Proactively identify, target, and engage Safeguard Mechanism entities, and other relevant corporate clients across Australia actively seeking carbon credits
Build and manage a pipeline or prospective clients through high-volume outreach, direct engagement, and attendance at industry events
Qualify client needs and develop tailored carbon credit solutions including financial structuring arrangements in collaboration with the carbon origination and development team
Provide critical inputs to the Director of Sales to help defining the regional go-to-market strategy and develop local sales strategies with a focus on the compliance market
Represent South Pole in client meetings, at conferences and virtual events
Support the development of South Pole’s thought leadership, services, products, marketing materials and offerings; adapt them to the regional needs in coordination with the marketing team
Lead the full demand-side lifecycle of carbon credit transactions, from client origination through to deal execution in close collaboration with the origination and structuring teams
Structure and execute back-to-back carbon credit trades in compliance with South Pole’s AFSL obligations
Coordinate closely with the supply-side team to align sourcing with client demand and ensure seamless back-to-back execution
Structure and negotiate long-term offtake agreements and investment opportunities with compliance buyers
Monitor market conditions, carbon credit pricing, and regulatory developments to inform timing and deal terms
Respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), preparing timely and competitive submissions in coordination with internal teams
Develop compelling proposals and commercial offers, and lead negotiations though to contract execution
Requirements
Essential
University degree in Finance, Sustainability and/or Business related discipline
At least 6 years of combined experience in trading, business development, or sales
with a high preference for experience in the carbon credit market
Track record in generating new leads
Track record in meeting and exceeding sales targets
Results-driven and action-oriented with self-direction and sense of urgency
Demonstrable commercial skills and good business sense so as to be able to identify and seize opportunities in a challenging and competitive market environment
Critical thinking and decision-making skills with strong business and commercial acumen
Excellent communication and presentation skills, in English
Advanced prioritisation and time management skills
Genuine passion and alignment to the climate change industry
Desirable
The following skills and experience are considered as a plus: Direct experience in carbon markets or other environmental certificates
Background in commodity trading, energy trading or financial products sales
Understanding of or experience with Australian financial markets regulation
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced international environment
Experience using Salesforce
