Support on strategic initiatives to deploy or leverage data and technology responsibly and ethically by providing expert advice to execute on TELUS’ data commitments.
Educate and advise business units on new or existing data uses and implementation of ethical technologies.
Conduct privacy and AI impact assessments, identify risks and provide corresponding recommendations.
Support the development of a data program that meets or exceeds the expectations of our customers while simultaneously ensuring TELUS’ ability to respectfully leverage data to deliver value to our stakeholders.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop and implement technology solutions and ensure adherence to the TELUS’ Trust Model.
Document, prioritize, and communicate clear privacy requirements for product initiatives and releases.
Escalate data risks promptly, with a sense of urgency, and recommend mitigating controls that are effective to protect the data of our customers and team members.
Adapt to meet the changing needs of the organization, and a fast-paced ambitious team, where priorities shift but the focus on the mission is steadfast.
Requirements
Minimum 3
5 years of industry experience in privacy, data protection, data ethics and/or operational data governance
Demonstrated ability to implement emerging technologies and programs by building and operationalizing programs related to privacy and AI laws, data ethics, artificial intelligence, data governance and data protection in a responsible and ethical manner
Valued for your knowledge and expertise in applying privacy and AI laws, guidance and best practices, and an understanding of data ethics, operational data governance and data protection
Proven expertise in identifying, assessing, and communicating privacy and data protection risks to cross-functional stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Skilled at translating complex risk assessments into clear, actionable insights for business leaders, operational teams, and non-privacy experts to drive informed decision-making
Trusted as a collaborative partner who will act with integrity to fulfil TELUS’ commitments to its customers and team members
Demonstrated track record of defining and delivering measurable outcomes for customers and the business in a complex stakeholder environment
Known for your ability to influence and negotiate effectively, to be a persuasive advocate, and help develop communities of practice
Comfortable with ambiguity and recognized for your ability to make decisions in a fluid environment
Certified International Association of Privacy Professional (IAPP) or willingness and ability to become certified within 6 months
Bilingualism in English and French, verbal and/or written (great-to-haves)
Legal background/experience (great-to-haves)
Experience working in a large, matrixed organization (great-to-haves)
Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its national scope.
