The Tax Manager position serves as the operational lead for the firm’s tax function.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax filings, manage risk, and support strategic initiatives.
Monitor tax law developments, maintain strong internal controls and documentation, and provide guidance to leadership on tax matters that affect business decisions.
Manage preparation, review, and filing of corporate income and indirect tax returns.
Ensure timely and accurate compliance across all jurisdictions.
Coordinate with external advisors and review deliverables prior to submission.
Support tax planning initiatives and identify opportunities for efficiency.
Assist with audits and manage correspondence with taxing authorities.
Support tax projection processes and prepare supporting schedules and documentation.
Collaborate with HR and Payroll on compensation-related tax matters.
Provide tax guidance to internal stakeholders.
Review work performed by staff and ensure quality standards.
Requirements
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws, with a focus on compliance.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Proficient in tax software; experience with fixed asset and accounting software is a plus.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, or Microsoft 365.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3-5 years of tax accounting experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
