Responsible for supporting federal income tax audits, including drafting responses to IRS information document requests.
Analysis and interpretation of existing and upcoming U.S. federal income tax legislation to identify opportunities to minimize the organization’s legal tax liabilities.
Play a critical role in navigating the complexities of income tax controversy.
Help resolve tax disputes to minimize the company’s tax liabilities.
Works collaboratively with others including other business units (e.g., legal, business operations, accounting, etc.) to develop and provide complete, accurate responses.
Organizes and compiles information and responds to Information Document Requests, Notices of Proposed Adjustments, and other tax controversy matters.
Evaluates tax issues throughout the tax controversy life cycle, including assistance with scenario modeling for planning.
Exercises sound business judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results.
Prepares tax research to advise management of the federal income tax and related accounting implications of IRS Audit activities.
Coordinate, prepare, or review amended federal income tax returns required for identified claims not handled in regular audit activities.
Responsible for meeting all required deadlines.
Requirements
Technical knowledge of federal laws and regulations.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership skills and self-management.
Proficiency in tax software and other financial management tools such as Excel, Power BI, Onesource, and Artificial Intelligence.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
At least 5+ years of experience in tax controversy, tax compliance, income tax planning for corporations and/or partnerships, or a related field.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and CPA Certification.
