Provides and leads general and systems engineering advice and support to internal and external clients in various systems lifecycle phases.
Provides and leads general and specific requirements management services to internal and external clients in one or more of these areas:
Requirements Elicitation: Execution of elicitation activities, analysis of customer and stakeholder needs, documentation of the outputs.
Requirements Definition: Translation of needs into requirements in accordance with guidelines and best practices.
Requirements Specification: Development of requirements specifications, such as Technical Requirements Specifications and Statements of Work.
Requirements Analysis: Decomposition and allocation of requirements, development of impact assessments, traceability analysis and requirements completion assessments.
Requirements Verification and Validation: Various activities performed on requirements and specifications to ensure quality standards and stakeholder needs are met.
Requirements Management: Support to the design and implementation of requirements specification infrastructures, development of requirements engineering plans, processes, and procedures.
Manages, trains, directs, and supports the work of team members allocated to engineering taskings.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and/or participating in professional societies.
Contributes technical specialist expertise, or practical knowledge, to internal discussions, innovation projects and billable tasks.
Provides mentoring, training and guidance to more junior engineers and technologists.
Conducts technical assurance activities on deliverables to ensure that work products are technically sound and that deliverables meet client requirements.
Acts as a Technical Lead and/or Technical Assurer on specified projects while working within the BMT Quality Management System (QMS) processes and procedures.
Participates in the development and growth of the systems engineering capability at the regional level.
Additionally, the Senior Systems Engineer or Specialist may support the Combat & Systems Engineering team in various technical and project management work, such as:
Application of systems engineering principles, regulations, and standards to various applications.
Conducting and leading engineering assessments, feasibility studies and technical investigations.
Support various projects in a systems engineering capacity in combat and military systems, cybersecurity, naval systems and platforms, and others.
Requirements
University degree in Engineering or Applied Science
Minimum 10 years of experience in an engineering environment
Practical experience in one or more areas of Requirements Engineering, including elicitation, definition, specification, analysis, verification and validation, and management
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
Holds or is eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a systems engineering role for a complex project (system-of-systems and/or system involving multiple sub-systems)
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the operation, configuration and administration of requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS and Cradle, or Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools.
Involvement in systems engineering communities such as INCOSE.
