Operate, monitor, and maintain local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and virtual private networks (VPN) to ensure smooth, reliable performance.
Plan, install, configure, and reconfigure network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, multiplexers, hubs, bridges, and gateways.
Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, including WAN circuits, equipment failures, router/switch configurations, firewall ACLs, VoIP device setup, and cryptographic device/keying material.
Coordinate with Navy, DISA, and commercial circuit providers for network implementation and issue resolution.
Maintain Information Assurance compliance, including IOS upgrades, configuration changes, and firewall ACL verification.
Support remote sites in restoring network operations after outages or failures.
Prepare and maintain network documentation, including operational instructions and configuration records.
Monitor network performance, conduct analysis, and provide recommendations for short‑ and long‑term improvements.
Coordinate third‑party maintenance for network equipment when required.
Design network solutions, including hardware and software selection, to meet evolving operational needs.
Work periodic shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends, as required to support mission readiness and operational continuity.
Requirements
5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
experience installing and troubleshooting WAN/LAN equipment and circuits.
experience monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting ASA firewall ACLs.
ability to troubleshoot at the protocol/packet level using sniffers, protocol analyzers, NetFlow, logging, etc.
strong knowledge of Cisco networking, including IP addressing, VLANs, routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, multicast), and Cisco IOS.
DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II baseline certification (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP).
current or active DoD Secret security clearance.
