Development Director

Role Overview

• Drive and coordinate fundraising activities across the organization
• Provide direction and leadership to RLF’s development team
• Support RLF’s principal fundraisers in improving partnerships
• Maintain organizational knowledge of key donors and prospects
• Directly supervise development team
• Develop internal systems, policies, and processes for effective philanthropy
• Build and manage the technology infrastructure to support donor engagement
• Prepare analyses/dashboards on fundraising activities
• Develop systems and processes for coordinating development activities
• Strengthen RLF’s fundraising performance with current donors
• Research and evaluate new potential funders
• Model effective development strategy and practices
• Collaborate with colleagues to understand RLF’s work

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising
• Broad knowledge of fundraising approaches for multiple donor audiences
• Experience in supporting a president, executive leadership team, and program staff
• Experience designing fundraising operations, systems, and teams
• Experience leveraging modern data management practices and technology
• Previous experience in climate and environmental organizations
• Knowledge of fundraising principles, ethics, compliance, and best practices
• Exceptional composition, editing, and spoken communication skills
• Ability to manage and coordinate simultaneous projects
• Flexibility in working style with a wide range of personality types
