Lead CEQA compliance efforts for a variety of projects, including conducting environmental impact assessments and preparing necessary documentation (e.g., Environmental Impact Reports, Negative Declarations, and Mitigated Negative Declarations)
Perform detailed environmental analyses to evaluate potential impacts under CEQA, including air quality, water resources, noise, traffic, and biological resources
Act as a subject matter expert on CEQA processes, ensuring that all projects meet state and local environmental regulations
Participate in client meetings, offering CEQA-related expertise and guidance, and assist in the identification and pursuit of new clients
Develop work within existing projects and attend business development meetings
Manage junior staff on CEQA-related tasks, providing oversight, coaching, and training to develop their understanding of CEQA processes
Supervise and coordinate field activities, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and ensuring the proper collection and analysis of data within budget and on schedule
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that each project adheres to CEQA timelines, budgets, and regulatory requirements
Prepare and review progress reports, change orders, invoices, and project billings related to CEQA compliance work
Collaborate with other environmental and engineering teams to ensure integrated and effective project delivery across multiple disciplines and office locations
Interface professionally with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure effective communication and project execution
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CEQA regulations and best practices, ensuring all projects comply with the latest environmental standards
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
10+ years of experience in environmental investigations, remediation, and CEQA-related work
In-depth knowledge of CEQA regulations and procedures, as well as related state and federal environmental laws
Professional Geologist (PG), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), or Professional Engineer (PE) designation required
Proven experience managing CEQA compliance for complex projects, including preparation of EIRs, environmental assessments, and other CEQA documents
Strong project management, client relations, and leadership skills with experience overseeing multidisciplinary teams
Proficiency in quantitative/technical analysis, environmental software, and report preparation
Excellent communication skills (public speaking, written, and verbal) to interact effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams
Strong attention to detail, analytical capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Reliable transportation for client meetings and site visits, along with a valid driver’s license in good standing.
