Role Overview
Lead long-term portfolio strategy, identifying growth opportunities, emerging technologies, and competitive dynamics.
Drive upstream marketing activities including market assessment, voice-of-customer insights, and unmet clinical need identification.
Define product concepts, value propositions, and target product profiles to guide product development programs.
Partner with R&D leadership to shape and prioritize the innovation pipeline and ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
Lead development of business cases, financial models, and strategic recommendations for new product investments.
Provide strategic oversight for product development programs from concept through development phases.
Collaborate with downstream marketing and commercialization teams to ensure successful transition from development to launch planning.
Present portfolio strategy, innovation initiatives, and program updates to senior leadership.
Build and develop a high-performing upstream marketing team and foster a culture of innovation and customer focus.
Requirements
Requires a Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with 10+ years of managerial experience (people or program), or advanced degree with a minimum 13 years prior relevant experience, minimum of 10 years of managerial experience (people or program).
MBA or advanced degree.
Experience leading upstream marketing or innovation programs within medical technology.
Demonstrated success developing product strategies and guiding products through development processes.
Strong understanding of healthcare markets, clinical environments, and regulatory considerations.
Ability to travel as necessary to conduct business, attend meetings and conferences.
Experience working in highly matrixed, global organizations.
Strong strategic thinking, financial acumen, and executive communication skills.
