Ensures overall quality, accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial information.
Builds effective, collaborative relationships with program staff and management to provide professional assistance with budgeting, financial reporting and analysis, and other relevant finance issues.
Maintains computerized financial systems including general ledgers and reports, supporting monthly forecast/variance reporting for the organization’s programs, collecting statistical and financial data, and preparing journal entries resulting in monthly, quarterly, and year-end information and reports.
Collects, analyzes, and reports on information in a meaningful manner to assist in the preparation of the annual program of work, participates in process design, changes and maintenance of internal controls and assists in the documentation of financial procedures and processes.
Performs financial reporting and analysis to support internal and external reporting requirements, including reporting requirements associated with the organization’s funder(s), including investigating, and reporting on significant budgetary variances and identifying any remedial action to be taken.
Leverage AI-enabled tools to enhance reporting through automated checks and improved analytical insight.
Support process optimization by streamlining workflows, reducing manual effort and improving cycle time through the effective use of AI-enabled tools.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce, finance, business administration or a related field; or equivalent education and/or work experience is required.
Sound working knowledge of management accounting practices, GAAP, and financial reporting requirements and sound understanding of internal controls and financial work processes required.
Minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in finance and accounting, preferably in a healthcare or not-for-profit (NFP) organization.
Demonstrated experience using AI or automation tools (including Microsoft Copilot or similar platforms) to improve efficiency, data quality and reporting.
Advanced proficiency in accounting software (i.e. QuickBooks Pro, GP Dynamics) is required.
Exposure to, or experience supporting, the implementation of finance systems is considered an asset.
Experience with payroll is considered an asset to support compensation budgeting.
Advanced computer software skills in Microsoft office suite and virtual environment required.
