Patient Financial Services Representative – Hospital Billing

Role Overview

• Responsible for efficient & timely billing and collections of hospital outstanding balances
• Utilizes the Epic Hospital Billing System to review and monitor accounts
• Works assigned outstanding and denied accounts
• Contacts insurance carriers or other responsible parties for claim confirmation
• Performs all necessary denial activities to obtain payment/resolution of claims
• Reviews accounts to ensure claims were billed properly and payments were applied correctly
• Gathers documentation needed to have claims reprocessed
• Communicates problematic accounts to management
• Identifies and researches incomplete or inaccurate information on claims
• Works claims edit work queue daily and resubmits claims through the Epic billing system

Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED Required
• At least two (2) years AR/Billing experience required
• Clear oral and written communication
• Professional telephone & email etiquette
• Able to interact with insurance carriers, patients, and co-workers in a professional and helpful manner
• Use of billing computer and PC skills
• Problem solving and decision making skills
• Able to work independently
• Experience in Revenue Cycle Billing & Accounts Receivable preferred
• Experience working with EPIC preferred
