About this role
Role Overview
Be a Trusted Strategic Partner to Head of Medical, North America, including proactively highlighting business critical risks/opportunities, and planning and directing the most critical organizational, financial, and operational activities for US Medical and Canada Medical.
Build the overarching NA Medical strategy in close collaboration with Head of Medical, North America and ensure alignment and execution of the assigned targets with all NAM leadership.
Own the US Medical budget from development through execution, to ensure US Medical stays within +/
5% of annual target.
Provide direction and support to Strategy & Operation leads, ensuring they have the tools and resources to ensure the successful build and execution of the TA and functional strategies for which they enable.
Lead operational team members to ensure Medical TAs and functions have the operational support needed to achieve their goals, this may include area such as: field medical systems e.g. Veeva, external engagement support, and vendor management support.
Stay on top of industry best practices and oversee US Medical initiatives to drive medical excellence and innovation with a deep understanding of ways of working and ensuring regulatory compliance within the US region.
Drive a strong culture and environment that will foster accountability, teamwork and mutual trust and respect for all team members.
Regularly ensure individuals are being assessed and evaluated – with coaching and talent development in place.
Foster the climate of growth and development against the backdrop of performance and accountability.
Create a positive climate within the team in alignment with Biogen’s culture.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
Requirements
Advanced degree in scientific discipline (PhD, PharmD, MD, etc.) or BS and advanced degree (e.g. MBA)
10 years of relevant experience e.g. Medical Affairs, Pharmaceutical Operations, etc.
Proven business acumen (e.g. business degree, MBA, or previous roles requiring strong business acumen)
Very strong organizational, managerial and leadership skills (including influence without formal authority)
Excellent social competencies and ability to work in a highly matrixed organization effectively and efficiently.
Excellent communication skills and strong ability to build and cultivate internal and external networks
Expertise and understanding of the variety of roles within Medical Affairs and their supporting processes
Proven track record of holding self and others accountable.
Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills
Strong operational skills and project/ timeline management capabilities
