Lead and perform a wide range of engineering tasks such as material qualification, support cost-reduction initiatives, resolve part non-conformities, address production issues, and manage material changes with suppliers within the Materials and Processes engineering team.
Lead the development of test plans, work with internal and external laboratories, analyze results, and review/approve test reports.
Support the drafting, review, and approval of material and finishing process specifications and the Associated Qualified Products List.
Review and approve engineering drawings and change documentation.
Support innovation projects and redesign activities; investigate new environmental regulations affecting finishing technologies.
Manage complex issues, make difficult technical decisions, and provide regular updates to senior management.
Lead and participate in process optimization, continuous improvement, and cost-reduction initiatives.
Provide technical expertise in metals, surface treatments, polymers, coatings, protective finishes, upholstery, leather, woodworking, and interior flammability.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Materials, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience as an M&P (Materials & Processes) engineer in an aerospace/military production environment.
In-depth knowledge of aircraft interior materials and processes such as surface treatments, coatings, protective finishes, leather, upholstery, woodworking, etc.
Familiarity with typical military and/or aerospace industry standards such as CMH-17, MIL specifications, federal regulations, ASTM, ISO, and SAE specifications.
Strong knowledge of flammability requirements according to FAR 25 regulations.
Proficiency in technical design principles and drawing review.
Excellent project planning and organizational skills.
Able to solve engineering problems in a high-pressure environment and address complex issues quickly and independently.
Excellent communication skills in English and French (written and spoken).
Able to work collaboratively and interact regularly with senior management, professionals, and technicians from other value-chain functions (Methods, Quality, Logistics, etc.).
Proficient in CATIA V5 and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
