About this role
Role Overview
Lead onboarding, orientation, competency validation, and ongoing professional development for nursing staff across pediatric general care and specialty inpatient areas.
Support nurses caring for diverse pediatric populations including hematology/oncology, bone marrow transplant, immunology, neuroscience, ENT, plastics, medical/surgical, behavioral health, trauma, and transplant patients.
Partner with clinical leaders and interdisciplinary teams to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs that promote safe, evidence-based pediatric care.
Support innovative pediatric programs and unit growth, including a specialized pediatric hematology/oncology and bone marrow transplant population and a new pediatric short-stay unit expansion.
Serve as a clinical education resource for nurses caring for both short-stay and complex pediatric patients with a wide range of medical, surgical, and psychosocial needs.
Collaborate with fellow nurse educators, CNSs, managers, and program leaders to advance nursing excellence, support system-wide initiatives, and foster a culture of learning across American Family Children’s Hospital.
Serve as an expert for the areas of support. Three (3) years of pediatric inpatient nursing experience, with experience in pediatric hematology/oncology, medical-surgical, and specialty pediatric populations strongly preferred.
Requirements
Master's Degree in Nursing Required
Master's Degree in Nursing Education Preferred
3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required
3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience with position specific patient population Preferred
3 years of experience providing orientation and education for nursing staff in clinical setting Preferred
Relevant experience in primary and specialty clinic settings for NES candidates working in ambulatory areas Preferred
Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
Basic Life Support BLS/CPR certification Upon Hire Required
National certification in relevant specialty Preferred
