Role Overview
- Lead the SQL Server to Aurora PostgreSQL migration effort
- Define and oversee schema conversion using AWS Schema Conversion Tool (AWS SCT)
- Resolve complex database objects that cannot be automatically converted
- Convert and optimize stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views
- Design and oversee AWS DMS migration processes, including full-load and CDC replication
- Review and validate work completed by team members
- Optimize PostgreSQL performance and database design
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the database migration team
Requirements
- Strong experience with SQL Server and T-SQL development
- Expertise with: Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, Views, SQL Agent Jobs
- Hands-on experience with Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL and PL/pgSQL
- Experience migrating databases from SQL Server to PostgreSQL
- Strong understanding of data type mapping, query conversion, and performance tuning
- Experience with AWS Schema Conversion Tool (AWS SCT)
- Experience with AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS)
- Familiarity with SSIS and SSRS environments
- Preferred: AWS Database Specialty Certification
- Production experience with Aurora PostgreSQL
- Experience leading large-scale SQL Server to PostgreSQL migrations
- Experience with AWS migration and modernization projects
