The Coordinator, STEM Enrichment and Access plays a hands-on role in supporting BEAM’s mission to help students navigate pivotal academic and enrichment milestones.
Working closely with the Manager, the Coordinator ensures smooth execution of day-to-day program operations, manages outreach and follow-up with students and families, and maintains accurate program data.
Retaining students who have completed BEAM’s summer programs while also recruiting new high school students in 9th grade will be a critical part of the team’s work.
In your family and student recruitment efforts you are expected to inspire students to engage in BEAM’s STEM enrichment programs, explore BEAM’s STEM career access experiences and maintain high engagement levels in a supportive community.
This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented and organized, who enjoys building systems, ensuring follow-through, and engaging directly with students and families.
The Coordinator helps deliver high-quality math enrichment and STEM exploration programs that prepare students for rigorous academic and career opportunities.
Support the design and/or review of 8th Grade + H.S. STEM enrichment curriculum and STEM career exploration courses offered to BEAM students.
Support the development of 8th Grade + H.S program management guides, policies and training resources.
Help implement central guidelines and tools for monitoring program quality and evaluating program outcomes.
Support BEAM’s relationships with a portfolio of eligible partner schools to achieve our student enrollment targets.
Support the coordination of in-school and after-school events, workshops, and initiatives designed to directly recruit and retain students and engage families in our enrichment programs.
Create weekly newsletters to students and families, including news about BEAM’s programs, interesting STEM enrichment opportunities and/or high school relevant news to support student engagement and academic success.
Track student participation, enrollment, and outcomes in Salesforce and other BEAM systems.
Requirements
Prior experience in youth programming, education, community engagement, or program operations (internships and volunteer work count)
Experience working with middle or high school students, ideally in STEM or enrichment programs
Comfort with family and student outreach, including phone calls, emails, and in-person engagement
Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate logistics and follow up on details
Professional experience (or demonstrated commitment) working with low-income or historically marginalized communities
Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for student programming.
Enthusiasm for mathematics and/or STEM fields, and an interest in helping students explore them.
Builds positive and trusting relationships with students, families, and schools by presenting a supportive and growth-oriented message.
Clear communicator who collaborates authentically with colleagues, families, and students.
Organized and detail-oriented in both planning and follow-through.
Comfortable using data to track participation, update records, and monitor program progress.
