About this role
Role Overview
Take primary responsibility for building, operating and further developing our Kubernetes clusters
Serve as the central point of contact for Kubernetes-related topics within the company
Ensure stable, secure and reproducible platform structures
Build, operate and administer our Kubernetes clusters based on RKE2 / Rancher (prod, dev and reference environments)
Design and implement a sustainable Kubernetes architecture strategy
Ensure stability, security, backup and update strategies
Monitoring, logging and observability of the cluster environments
Standardize deployment processes (e.g. Helm, GitOps, CI/CD integration)
Work closely with product development to optimize the deployability of our software
Evaluate and support OpenShift environments in customer or project contexts
Support the admin team in building Kubernetes expertise
Support the professional services team with Kubernetes-related questions in customer projects
Document architecture, operational processes and best practices
Evaluate suitable platforms and distributions (on-premises and cloud)
Requirements
Completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics or comparable qualification — or equivalent practical experience
Several years of hands-on experience building and operating production Kubernetes clusters
Experience with Rancher and/or RKE2 is an advantage
Ideally experience with OpenShift or willingness to train intensively
Solid knowledge of container technologies (Docker, OCI)
Experience with deployment and packaging tools (e.g. Helm, GitOps)
Experience with monitoring and logging stacks
Good Linux skills and a solid understanding of networking and IT security
Ideally experience with cloud Kubernetes platforms (e.g. AKS, EKS)
Structured, responsible and independent way of working
Enjoy sharing knowledge within the team and standardizing processes
Very good German and English skills, written and spoken (native German speaker or at least CEFR level C)
