Business development – bringing with you and/or developing a network of contacts across the public and private sector
External communications – lead high profile presentation to clients and other stakeholders
Lead cost-benefit analyses, economic appraisals, and risk-adjusted option modelling for defence and security programmes
Lead analytical and quantitative modelling, including economic forecasting and statistical assessments
Serve as a senior advisor to clients, translating complex economic concepts into digestible and compelling narratives
Provide leadership and oversight across project workstreams, ensuring quality assurance
Develop client accounts and support business development
Coach junior economists to build future leadership capability
Requirements
10+ years’ experience working as an economist (in a consultancy or government department) with a focus on economic policy in government, infrastructure and/or defence
Experience in Green Book 5 Case model is essential, other relevant experience as Magenta book desirable
Proven senior leadership experience in building and lead an economic team
Proven experience in delivering complex public sector or defence programmes
Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with experience of working within a matrix organisation
Experience leading the development of business cases in line with HMT Green Book principles
An Economics Degree (or an international equivalent) or have equivalent work experience
Strong analytical skills for quantitative problem-solving, paired with high attention to detail
Critical thinking skills to evaluate information, make informed decisions, and develop innovative solutions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
