Role Overview

• Providing high quality, individualized basic care activities as identified by the RN
• Performing basic patient care activities
• Observing and reporting patient issues/concerns/problems
• Assisting the patient in basic living activities such as bathing, oral care, positioning, line changes and ambulating
• Responding to concerns regarding patient safety
• Demonstrating the ability to provide care in emergency situations
• Communicating and following the organizational chain of command for notification of patient care/service issues
• Reinforcing patient/family educational needs as identified by the RN
• Maintaining knowledge of patient care issues for the adolescent through geriatric patient population
• Completing departmental and hospital-wide in-services, competencies and Health Stream assignments

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent, preferred
• Completion of Nursing Assistant course, preferred
• Minimum six months recent experience in an acute care setting preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Current and Valid California Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American heart Association (AHA)
• Los Angeles County Fire Card (required within 30 days of hire)
• Assault Response Competency (ARC) Training (required within 30 days of hire)
