About this role
Role Overview
Develop a hardware prototype: You will convert the existing device concept into a functional hardware prototype and thereby make a direct contribution to digital stroke prevention.
Develop software: You will create the corresponding software that guides users safely and intuitively through the entire measurement process.
Integrate hardware and software: You will connect hardware and software into a seamlessly functioning overall system by implementing appropriate interfaces between the measurement device and the app, consistently applying the user requirements defined in the design concept.
ML & signal analysis: You will integrate methods for processing and analyzing the recorded blood-flow sounds and investigate the use of machine learning approaches for automated evaluation of clinically relevant signals.
Evaluation: You will test the developed prototype together with users, analyze the feedback, and optimize the system with respect to usability and the overall user experience.
Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Master's program in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Medical Engineering, Health/Medical Informatics, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field
Practical experience in hardware or software development and an interest in technically implementing user-centered design concepts
Understanding of user-centered development processes and a willingness to shape the technical implementation through iterative user feedback so that measurement execution and result interpretation remain understandable and safe for medical laypersons
Team-oriented, careful, and responsible working style, as well as the ability to work independently and conduct scientific work
Ideally located near Dortmund, as on-site meetings and coordination may be required despite the possibility of remote work
Good written and spoken German and English
