About this role
Role Overview
Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and employees on employee relations issues, including disciplinary procedures, grievances, and conflict resolution.
Handle day-to-day queries from employees and managers, escalating complex or high-risk issues to the HR Business Partner (HRBP) as appropriate.
Lead and assist in formal investigations, ensuring fair and consistent processes are followed.
Support managers in handling employee performance issues, offering advice on appropriate actions, including performance improvement plans (PIPs).
Manage and facilitate the disciplinary process, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Lead or support investigations into employee concerns or complaints, maintaining confidentiality and impartiality.
Coordinate and deliver training sessions on employee relations, performance management, disciplinary procedures, and other HR topics.
Collaborate with managers to assess training needs and ensure development programs are tailored to enhance employee and leadership skills.
Monitor the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for improvements.
Support the HRBP in supporting managers with conducting people reviews and performance appraisals, ensuring feedback is constructive and aligned with business objectives.
Assist in the identification of high-potential employees and development needs across teams.
Provide support for payroll processing, particularly during periods of absence or other staffing gaps.
Work closely with payroll teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll delivery, resolving any issues or discrepancies as they arise.
Maintain accurate employee records and documentation relating to investigations, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
Assist with ad hoc HR tasks and projects as needed, contributing to the overall HR strategy and objectives.
Requirements
Proven experience in an HR advisory role, with a focus on employee relations, disciplinary matters, and investigations.
Strong understanding of employment law and best practices in employee relations.
Ability to handle employee and manager queries effectively, escalating to the HRBP as required.
Experience in delivering training and coaching to managers and teams.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Experience in payroll support or familiarity with payroll processes is advantageous.
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
CIPD Level 5 qualification is desirable, but significant experience in handling HR queries and providing guidance is essential.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
