Own end-to-end architecture and technical direction for full stack web applications (UI, APIs, services, and data), aligning solutions to business goals and enterprise standards.
Translate business and non-functional requirements into target architecture, detailed solution designs (HLD/LLD), and delivery roadmaps.
Define front-end and back-end architecture patterns: React application structure, state management, Micro-Frontend strategy (where applicable), and Java/Spring Boot service design (layering, APIs, integrations).
Design secure and scalable integrations (REST/event-driven), including authentication/authorization patterns (SSO/OAuth2/OIDC, JWT), API gateways, and data flows.
Establish architecture guardrails and engineering standards (coding practices, API standards, error handling, logging, observability, performance, accessibility) and ensure adoption through reviews and governance.
Guide teams on performance, resiliency, availability, and operational readiness (SLOs/SLAs, monitoring/alerting, capacity planning, DR).
Collaborate with product and delivery leadership on estimation inputs, sequencing, and release planning; support teams through complex technical decisions and trade-offs.
Mentor engineers across the stack (Synchrony and vendor), promoting reusable components, reference implementations, and consistent patterns.
Communicate architecture decisions and trade-offs to stakeholders; document decisions using ADRs and maintain architecture artifacts.
Evaluate emerging technologies (including AI-assisted development and AI-enabled features) and recommend practical adoption with security/compliance guardrails.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience) with 8+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years in architecture/technical leadership roles on full stack solutions or in lieu of a degree 10 + years in software engineering
Deep hands-on expertise in Java , Spring/Spring Boot , and building scalable APIs/microservices (REST, asynchronous messaging/eventing).
Strong hands-on experience with React JS and modern front-end engineering (TypeScript preferred, component architecture, performance optimization, accessibility basics).
Experience designing and governing end-to-end full stack architectures , including API contracts, versioning, backward compatibility, and integration patterns.
Strong knowledge of security-by-design across UI and services: OWASP, secure coding, secrets management, SSO/OAuth2/OIDC, CSRF/XSS protections, and secure API design.
Experience with AWS and cloud-native architecture (preferred): containerization, autoscaling, networking, observability, and cost/performance trade-offs.
Strong understanding of CI/CD and DevSecOps practices (build automation, quality gates, security scans, release strategies) and ability to define engineering guardrails.
Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL technologies, data modeling, query optimization, caching strategies, and transactional vs eventual consistency trade-offs.
Familiarity with Micro-Frontends and front-end platform governance is a plus.
Strong understanding of SDLC (Agile) , release/change management, incident management, and production readiness expectations.
AI-assisted development proficiency (e.g., GitHub Copilot/enterprise LLM tools) to accelerate design, coding, testing, and documentation—used responsibly with security, privacy, and IP considerations.
