Learn ACT Power Services North America generation SCADA architecture and new project development and implementation process.
Assist with engineering analysis, design review, modification and upgrades of solar renewable energy projects.
Support the maintenance and troubleshooting of SCADA systems for solar PV assets.
Support the development of site UI/UX in Ignition, as well as Power-BI dashboards.
Become familiar with the ACT Power Services Cyber Security framework and support compliance across all solar projects.
Learn to program and test Schweitzer (SEL) protection relays (e.g., SEL-351, SEL-487) and SEL-3530 RTACs under senior guidance.
Assist with PLC hardware configuration and basic maintenance for Siemens and Emerson/GE PLCs.
Practice and apply basic programming for PLC ladder logic and functional blocks.
Utilize object-oriented programming to support team automation tasks (Python experience is a plus).
Assist in preparing performance monitoring tools and basic programming applications.
Assist with project commissioning checks and signal check-out activities for SCADA communications.
Maintain organized documentation of specification designs, drawings, bills of materials, and test data.
Follow test procedures to verify hardware and software designs.
Learn and ensure engineering designs comply with NERC-CIP, UL, IEEE, and ISA requirements.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Automation and Controls Engineering, Power Electronics Engineering, Computer Programming Engineering, or a related technical field (Recent graduates welcome).
0–2 years of Industrial Automation exposure or internships, ideally with some exposure to the Power Sector.
Academic or internship familiarity with SCADA platforms like Ignition, Cimplicity.
Foundational exposure to PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, ABB, GE/Emerson, Siemens) through coursework or hands-on projects.
Basic understanding of industry standard protocols such as DNP3, MODBUS, and OPC.
Knowledge of or exposure to Kepware (KEPServerEX) is a plus.
Strong desire to learn substation automation, protective relaying, and renewable energy infrastructure.
