You are part of the Law & Policy team and take on professional responsibility for our legal department
This includes both strategic steering of legal issues and the professional leadership of currently three legal staff members
For this, you work closely with the Team Lead for Law & Policy
You are professionally responsible for legal questions of the organization and from our policy work and strategically work on the organization’s objectives
Your area of responsibility includes, among other things, litigation funding, the organization’s key litigation, project work with a legal focus, liaison with investigative authorities and the judiciary, the organization’s Trusted Flagger activities, supervision of trainee lawyers, as well as general legal matters for the organization such as data protection
You maintain oversight and take charge of quality assurance for the outputs of the department’s staff
Together with the team you prepare complex legal issues in an accessible manner, e.g., in the context of current legislative initiatives, and develop policy demands that address current problems related to digital violence
You represent the organization externally in response to press inquiries, in expert hearings, at talks and workshops, at networking events and conferences
You keep the management and the Team Lead for Law & Policy informed about relevant current developments in the field and provide advisory support
Requirements
Your place of residence and habitual place of abode are in Germany
You have successfully completed the Second State Examination in Law (second German legal exam) and have 2–5 years of professional experience
Not required but advantageous: initial experience in personnel management
You can communicate complex legal matters clearly
You speak and write fluent German and English
You always work carefully and precisely; no detail escapes you
You are familiar with using various digital tools for organization and communication and feel confident using the MS Office suite
You like to work in a self-organized way, can take good care of yourself, communicate and prioritize your concerns
You are politically minded and want to engage against digital violence
You are eager to work in a versatile and interdisciplinary team
