iSpot is a competitive startup based in Seattle, seeking a Lead Software Development Engineer to act as the technical authority for their web platforms. The role involves defining front-end architecture, promoting coding standards, and leading cross-functional collaboration to enhance platform capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Architectural Strategy: Define and evolve a robust, maintainable front-end architecture that supports high-performance web applications and seamless integration with GenAI/LLM services
- Technical Leadership: Identify high-level requirements and scope complex, cross-team solutions. You will be responsible for de-risking major technical pivots and scheduling large-scale deliverables
- Standards & Excellence: Promote and drive the adoption of industry-leading coding standards, design patterns, and CI/CD practices across the entire engineering organization
- Hands-on Innovation: Develop mission-critical software using TypeScript, React, Next.js/Remix, and emerging technologies. You will tackle the most "wicked" technical challenges that block other teams
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Design, and Backend leads to harmonize the full-stack ecosystem and enhance our platform's capabilities
- Mentorship & Influence: Lead by example by conducting deep-dive code reviews, mentoring senior engineers, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and engineering rigor
- Operational Health: Drive improvements in system observability, response to customer incidents, and the overall reliability of our front-end infrastructure
Requirements:
- Extensive experience building enterprise-scale applications with React, Next.js/Remix, and TypeScript
- A deep understanding of state management, server-side rendering (SSR), and web performance optimization
- A demonstrable passion for, and experience with integrating LLMs and Generative AI into user-facing products
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Proven experience leading large-scale architectural shifts or multi-quarter projects that impacted multiple teams
