Ervin Cable Construction, LLC is seeking an OSP Design Engineer to collaborate with cross-functional teams in designing and implementing efficient systems and processes. The role involves ensuring compliance with safety standards, engaging with stakeholders, and delivering high-quality results that meet customer needs.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with remote drafting and GIS personnel to produce construction drawings for the network
- Plan, design, and obtain permits for new cable routes
- Work as part of a multi-faceted team of engineering, construction, project management, and scheduling personnel, all with a common interest of delivering results to the customer
- Engage regularly with the customer’s engineering team and project management for updates and feedback
- Provide frequent project progress updates and risk assessments to the management team
- Design aerial and underground telecommunications plant routes
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, plus at least one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination
- Proficient with Excel & Word
- Knowledge of telecommunications industry standards
- Knowledge of regulations for OSP facilities
- Knowledge of aerial or underground construction methods and engineering requirements
- Knowledge of government permit requirements
- Knowledge of OSP facilities, construction techniques and conduit records
- Knowledge of easement, right of way and permit documents
- Knowledge of AutoCAD/Microstation or Geographic Information Systems
- Knowledge of fiber optic counts, fiber assignments and splicing schematics
- Physical abilities to routinely operate vehicle, walk, use keyboard and mouse
- Physical abilities to occasionally climb stairs and stand
