COBOL/JCL Test Engineer

Marlabs is seeking COBOL/JCL Test Engineers with hands-on mainframe testing experience. The role focuses on assessing and validating the effectiveness of AI-assisted testing and development outputs, comparing traditional testing approaches with AI-enabled outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Execute functional, regression, and batch testing for COBOL programs and JCL jobs on mainframe environments
• Validate AI-generated test cases, test data, and defect identification against manual and baseline results
• Establish JCL and batch test scenarios to evaluate AI effectiveness in test coverage and defect detection
• Analyse discrepancies between AI-assisted outputs and expected mainframe behaviour
• Document test results, variances, and insights to support AI benchmarking and reporting
• Collaborate with QA, mainframe SMEs, and AI enablement teams to refine validation approaches

Requirements:

• Strong experience in COBOL and JCL testing in mainframe environments
• Knowledge of batch processing, job scheduling, datasets, and error handling
• Experience in functional and regression testing for mainframe applications
• Ability to review and validate AI-generated artifacts (test cases, scenarios, summaries)
• Good analytical and documentation skills
• Exposure to AI-assisted testing tools or GenAI usage in SDLC
• Experience in test effectiveness or productivity measurement initiatives
• Prior work in regulated or large-scale enterprise mainframe programs
