The Associate Systems Engineer serves as a technical business partner to the sales team, providing high-quality technical support and aligning Software AG solutions to customer needs throughout the sales cycle.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate Software AG's business and revenue goals by providing high-quality technical support to the sales team throughout the sales cycle
- Support prospect/customer qualification and business strategies through technical insights and guidance
- Collaborate with sales representatives to develop specific account plans and strategies
- Analyze sales customer/prospects' requirements and recommend the best Software AG solutions
- Create and deliver demonstrations, presentations, prototypes, and Proof of Concept/Value (POC/POV) to map Software AG product features to customer needs
- Provide technical support to qualified prospects conducting evaluations, including training, example programming, third-party software integration, troubleshooting, and best-practices consulting
- Respond to the technical sections of RFI/RFPs
- Gather and relay product feedback from customers
- Share competitive intelligence gathered from the field
- Exchange best practices and share knowledge within the Systems Engineer community
- Stay updated on Software AG solutions, especially within the assigned business line, and maintain relevant technical knowledge
- Participate in meetings, conferences, and cross-departmental discussions with customers, partners, sales, and R&D teams

- Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science field, Mathematics, or Engineering
- Mainframe Programming
- Understanding of business infrastructure, network architecture and distributed computing
- Proficiency in programming languages such as COBOL, Python or Java
- Experience with Internet software development and concepts
- Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Linux, Mainframe operating systems such as z/OS ) and databases (e.g., DB2, VSAM, SQL Server)
- IT mainframe knowledge
- Experience with mainframe operating systems (e.g., z/OS), virtualization (e.g., z/VM, LPARs)
- TP monitors and user interfaces (e.g., CICS, TSO, ISPF, TN3270, SDSF)
- Knowledge of database technologies such as DB2, VSAM and IMS
- Familiarity with security concepts, including RACF
- Programming experience in COBOL, Java, or Python
- Understanding and Exposure to the cloud computing concept
- Exposure to DevOps concepts and tools
