AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs. As a Visual Engineer, you will develop executive-level briefings, design system visuals, and analyze data to support decision-making and program oversight.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver executive-level briefings and visual narratives that clearly communicate program status, risks, and key performance metrics to senior leadership and governance boards
- Design and maintain system and solution architecture visuals (diagrams, models, workflows) that align with SELC standards and clearly convey complex technical designs to diverse stakeholders
- Analyze operational, test, and acquisition data to identify trends, risks, and performance gaps, translating findings into visual and written insights that support planning and decision-making
- Build and maintain interactive dashboards and data visualizations that consolidate technical, lifecycle, and financial information into intuitive views for leadership oversight
- Create and manage technical documentation sets (e.g., system specifications, test plans, compliance artifacts) ensuring clarity, consistency, and traceability for audits and governance reviews
- Support configuration management by maintaining accurate, version-controlled visual and textual artifacts that trace changes across hardware, software, and documentation
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and cybersecurity teams to capture requirements and translate them into structured visual and written technical artifacts
- Develop risk analysis visuals and narratives, including risk matrices and mitigation summaries, to inform program leadership and acquisition decision-makers
- Produce visually oriented training and reference materials that simplify complex workflows and technical concepts for field operators and technical staff
- Integrate and visualize test and evaluation data within centralized repositories, enabling automated or streamlined reporting of readiness and performance for milestone decisions
- Document cybersecurity-relevant architectures, data flows, and control implementations through clear visual artifacts that support ATO and ongoing compliance activities
- Support acquisition lifecycle activities by visually mapping requirements to deliverables and demonstrating compliance through structured documentation and traceability graphics
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship Required
- CBP BI or Top Secret Clearance is required
- Bachelor's Degree with 8-10 years of experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Project and SharePoint and other visualization tools
- Knowledge of DHS/CBP's mission, vision, goals, and culture
- Excellent writing, briefing, and communication skills
- Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and effective decision-making
- Skilled in planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and experienced supporting senior Government leaders and technical/business professionals
