Flock Safety is the leading safety technology platform, helping communities thrive by taking a proactive approach to crime prevention and security. The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for designing architectures that bridge Flock’s device portfolio with diverse customer networks and troubleshooting complex networking constraints.
Responsibilities:
- Define and document standard device network topologies and edge-to-cloud connectivity models
- Partner with customer-facing teams to address network constraints and establish deployment best practices
- Design and maintain routing, firewall, and local network configurations on embedded devices
- Lead incident triage and root-cause analysis for networking issues in deployed systems
- Identify recurring failure modes and anti-patterns, and drive improvements to reliability and performance
Requirements:
- 8+ years with embedded Linux networking, including routing, firewalling, DNS, and DHCP
- Experience deploying devices into customer-managed networks with varying security and topology constraints
- Hands-on experience defining, operating, and troubleshooting routing and firewall rules
- Practical knowledge of VPNs and network segmentation, including VLANs
- Experience designing or operating edge-to-cloud connectivity models, such as outbound tunnels, reverse proxies, or VPN-based access
- Experience with automation or scripting for provisioning and diagnostics
- Strong network troubleshooting and diagnostics skills
- Experience managing Layer 3 networking infrastructure, including ACLs and VLANs
- Experience working with Android-based devices
- Knowledge of wireless networking, including modern Wi-Fi standards
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and container platforms
- Background with real-time or streaming network protocols
- Experience with modern VPN or mesh networking solutions
- Experience supporting large fleets of remotely deployed devices
