May Mobility is transforming cities through autonomous technology to create a safer, greener, more accessible world. The Autonomy Support Engineer II will validate the safety and functionality of autonomous vehicle systems, investigate fleet issues, and assist in the development of autonomy software through data analysis and simulation scenario creation.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate reported fleet issues for root cause, track and categorize common issues, and escalate when necessary to the Autonomy Software Engineering teams, which includes extensive reviewing of logged events from our Autonomous vehicles
- Help build the company's knowledge base for site staff and other Autonomy Support Engineers
- Curate and manage datasets for Autonomy software development
- Analyze testing data to assist in Autonomy software development
- Aid in early autonomy software testing through simulation scenario development
- Provide insights and patterns for cases that are preventing autonomy and escalate as necessary
- Plan and create simulation scenarios that test for improved behavior with an emphasis on effective and efficient test plans
- Analyze and report simulation test outcomes, providing high quality and meaningful data analysis to assist in identifying software progressions and regressions
- Learn the self driving system (autonomous system functionality, subsystem behavior, error messages, etc.)
- Identify issues with tooling and suggest and implement process improvements
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of how to effectively identify suboptimal vehicle behavior utilizing logs collected by the Fleet and Testing teams
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field (preferred); however, some college experience or similar relevant career experience is acceptable
- At least 5 years of relevant experience
- Strong analytical and technical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability in troubleshooting, keen attention to detail
- Basic to Intermediate Python coding and Bash scripting skills
- Basic to Intermediate level SQL and/or JQL experience
- Proficient with Linux scripts and terminal usage
- Basic to Intermediate C/C++ skills for debugging and code analysis
- Understanding of BI Tools (e.g. AWS Quicksight, Tableau, Looker, Plotly Dash)
- Understanding of simulation scenario creation and software testing criteria
- Comfortable continuously learning new softwares and workflows
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Intermediate to Advanced Python coding skills and Bash scripting skills
- Intermediate to Advanced C/C++ skills for debugging and code analysis
- Intermediate to Advanced level SQL and/or JQL experience
- Experience working with autonomous vehicles
- Familiarity with a start-up environment and pace of business
- Experience analyzing, evaluating and transforming data from multiple sources
- Basic to Intermediate level BI Tool experience (e.g. AWS Quicksight, Tableau, Looker, Plotly Dash)
- Familiarity with Applied Intuition simulation software suite is a plus
