The Senior NPI Engineer will support the Hardware Engineering group by launching new products and sustaining existing designs, managing contract manufacturers, and driving process improvements for production efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Support our growing Aviation initiatives
- Add to and build up the NPI team to launch new products and sustain existing designs at all stages of their lifecycle
- Support new and existing contract manufacturers to qualify designs for mass production
- Set up assembly & test flows
- Drive root-cause/corrective action plans to recover devices stranded in quarantine
- Manage continuous improvement to increase efficiencies and lower costs in production
- Own the NPI cycle for quality-of-life design changes to support the vitality of our existing products
- Become Familiar with Flock’s products
- Become familiar with Flock’s current production, Manufacturing workstreams and challenges
- Integrate into current and new Contract Manufacturer engagement
- Able to independently own specific tasks
- Support prioritized ongoing activities
- Contribute to future productization plans
- Become the primary owner of various workflows and even a specific product in the NPI phase
- Drive process improvements that increase production yield and reduce manufacturing costs
Requirements:
- BSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline
- At least 5-7 years of experience in NPI, HW Production/Manufacturing, or similar functional roles, particularly in Aviation or UAS products
- Knowledge and experience with Mobile, IoT, Imaging, or battery-operated devices' assembly process and testing
- Experience with manufacturing process development and improvement in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in working with contract manufacturers
- Broad technical competence across relevant engineering disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, etc.)
- A deep understanding of the development cycle as a process and a discipline – the ability to drive first principles and maintain focus on goals during constant change, learning, and new analysis
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, including injection molding, PCBA fabrication, cable over-molding, etc
- Effective communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
- Excellent teamwork skills with proven ability to work with a cross-functional team and drive for timely project success
- Has brought multiple UAS products to market
- Can read schematic diagrams and PCB documentation
- Has developed and implemented test solutions for new products, including software and hardware
- Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturing) of PCB and electronic components production
- Knowledge and experience in using CAD (SolidWorks) to design aids and/or fixtures for manufacturing or testing
- Knowledge and experience in using Altium for test fixture circuit design
- Knowledge and experience in optics and image test and analysis
- Proven track record bringing products from a prototyping and conception phase all the way through mass production
