Celara is a rapidly growing enterprise software company focused on restaurant technology. They are seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to build and maintain robust test suites for web services and APIs, ensuring the reliability and performance of critical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain automated API and service-level test cases using Karate and Postman
- Collaborate with QA and engineering teams to define test strategies for new features and services
- Develop and maintain regression and smoke test suites to validate service health and system stability
- Perform manual exploratory and validation testing for complex backend workflows or non-automatable areas
- Execute and design backend performance validations using tools like JMeter, k6, or equivalent
- Validate data integrity and perform root cause analysis using logs, service metrics, and backend databases
- Run tests in Dockerized environments or local dev environments; contribute to test environment setup and configuration
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and cross-functional collaboration
- Contribute to continuous integration (CI) and continuous testing (CT) pipelines as part of the QA automation lifecycle
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with emphasis on backend systems and APIs
- Proven experience writing and maintaining tests in Karate Framework and Postman (including assertions, chaining, and scripting)
- Strong understanding of RESTful services, including headers, auth flows, status codes, and payload validation
- Familiarity with Docker and containerized test setups
- Experience reading logs and debugging backend systems
- Solid manual QA background and exploratory testing experience for service-level validation
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum and using tools like JIRA, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines
- Basic proficiency in reading code (e.g., Java, C#, JavaScript) to assist in triage and test alignment
- Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) Systems
- Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter, k6, or Locust
- Knowledge of MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
- Experience testing distributed or edge-deployed systems (e.g., POS terminals, IoT devices)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
- Domain expertise in restaurant/POS systems and related workflows
