The Senior Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of transformers, providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of transformers or related components, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, CSA) and customer specifications
- Conduct advanced engineering analyses to optimize product performance, cost, and efficiency, addressing complex design challenges
- Perform and oversee failure analysis on design-related issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability
- Provide technical leadership in design reviews, guiding decisions, and ensuring alignment with project objectives and customer requirements
- Mentor and guide junior engineers by offering technical expertise, support, and development opportunities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain, sales, and customer service to ensure successful integration of designs into production
- Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and ensure competitive product designs
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, promoting innovation and efficiency in design processes and methodologies
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- More than 8 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on transformer or related product design
- Proven ability to lead design projects from concept to production
- Advanced proficiency with design and analysis tools, including electrical and thermal analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks)
- Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., VB .Net, C++, SQL) and database management tools (e.g., MySQL)
- Ability to interact with, maintain, and update ERP system data related to engineering processes
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, UL, IEC, CSA) and regulatory requirements (e.g. DOE) for transformers and related components
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide and mentor junior engineers
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, capable of addressing complex technical challenges independently
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities
- Experience conducting failure analysis and implementing corrective actions for design-related issues
