BravoTECH is seeking a Connected Assets Engineer for a 6-month contract to hire. The role involves investigating equipment connectivity, executing connections to systems like Kepware, and documenting processes while coordinating with site and network teams.
Responsibilities:
- Must be an analytical thinker and be willing to research unknown equipment and connectivity patterns
- Timeliness and flexibility with schedule to accommodate the customer are both a must
- Manufacturing floor experience
- Able to work independently and be self-motivated
- IIOT connectivity experience in some manner (Kepware, MES, PLC, machine controllers, Ignition, Etc.)
- Understanding of the broad view of manufacturing in relation to connecting the various systems
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts at a minimum
- This is our opportunity to build a relationship with the site outside of just the program team
- This is more of an investigative trip to document the equipment at a site and collect the information needed to determine the connectivity path
- We verify any information entered into the machine survey by the plant and fill in any missing information
- For each piece of equipment, we look at things such as:
- How the equipment is controlled, PC or PLC or Controller
- Can we connect directly to the equipment or is additional hardware required such as machine switch or NAT device
- Does the equipment have a network drop available
- Is there an SME for the piece the piece of equipment
- We document the switch stack names for the network team and verify switch capacity
- Following the pre-assessment, we participate in a tech review with the customer where we discuss the best path for connectivity on each piece of equipment based on our findings while on site
- This is the return trip where we go onboard equipment to the new factory segmented network and then establish connections from those machines to Kepware
- These trips require coordination between us, the site team, the network team, and occasionally vendors
- Possible technical tasks could include:
- Patching in a drop
- Configuring a NAT device or IO device
- Configuring IP Address and relevant network items on equipment
- Full configuration of Kepware channels and devices based on standard formats that have been provided by the customer
- Maintain up to date playbook status and comments throughout the week
- Create SNOW tickets for any outstanding action items that cannot be completed during the execution week
- There are a few documentation activities we are responsible for
- We create the playbook for each execution. It is the schedule for the week along with a few additional pieces of information for each machine
- We document the implementation steps for the selected connectivity path on each machine type. This is a machine side high level work instruction
- We create guidebooks or work instructions for how to make the connection to Kepware. This is low level work instruction for configuring Kepware
- We document the information needed to submit an FSR to the customer
- Potential for basic report outs and other minor documentation
- Overall travel tends to be around 30% for the year
- Domestic Travel- 1-week duration
- International Travel- 2-week duration
