Liquidity.io is hiring a Senior Frontend Engineer / Frontend Architect to lead the design and implementation of their production-grade trading UX for a Liquidity Trading ATS platform. The role involves owning the frontend architecture, performance, reliability, and user experience for real-time trading workflows and collaborating with various teams to ensure a seamless trading experience.
Responsibilities:
- Architect and deliver high-performance trading UIs (real-time quotes, order tickets, depth/market data, charts, blotters, positions, balances)
- Build scalable frontend patterns for low-latency streaming data (WebSockets/SSE), state management, caching, and optimistic UI
- Define UI standards for trader-grade usability: keyboard-first workflows, accessibility, error states, resilience, and audit-friendly interactions
- Partner with backend teams to define API contracts (REST/gRPC) and real-time event schemas (Kafka/NATS/etc.)
- Implement frontend observability: performance metrics, error tracking, user journeys, and uptime dashboards
- Enforce secure coding practices
- Mentor engineers; drive code quality, reviews, and CI/CD
Requirements:
- 8+ years frontend engineering experience with at least 2+ years in an architecture/tech lead role
- Proven experience building trading or market-data heavy web and mobile applications (equities, options, FX, crypto, or ATS/exchange UIs)
- Expert in modern web frameworks (e.g., React/TypeScript preferred) and component architecture
- Hands-on with real-time data patterns: WebSockets, event-driven UI updates, backpressure handling
- Strong understanding of frontend performance tuning (render profiling, virtualization, caching, bundle optimization)
- Experience working in regulated environments (FINRA/SEC/CFTC, SOC2/ISO controls) and building audit-friendly UX
- Prior work at or with platforms similar to TD Ameritrade, Robinhood, Coinbase, or comparable brokerages/exchanges/ATS providers
- Strong understanding of trading domain concepts: orders, fills, cancels, TIF, order types, positions, margin, fees, and corporate actions
- Familiarity with broker-dealer (BD) and transfer agent (TA) operational flows as they relate to customer onboarding, account funding, trade lifecycle, statements, and reconciliation
- Ability to propose how the platform should look and feel for professional-grade trading (information architecture, workflows, responsiveness, error handling)
