Inman is a leading source of real estate information known for its innovative journalism and technology coverage. They are seeking a Growth Product Manager to optimize subscription conversion and retention, enhance user experience, and drive measurable improvements in subscriber engagement across digital products.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Marketing leadership to drive measurable improvements in subscriber revenue, conversion rate, trial-to-paid rate, retention, and engagement
- Define and track core growth metrics: conversion rate, trial-to-paid rate, churn, funnel yield, and engagement leading indicators
- Identify the highest-leverage opportunities to improve acquisition and retention across traffic sources, devices, and user segments
- Build Inman’s experimentation capability from the ground up. Establish testing standards, prioritization frameworks, documentation practices, and measurement rigor where experimentation is currently ad hoc
- Increase experiment velocity while maintaining statistical integrity, and translate learnings into repeatable systems rather than one-off wins. Increase experiment throughput and learning velocity while maintaining data integrity
- Move beyond isolated tests toward repeatable experimentation processes and infrastructure the team can sustain
- Drive continuous improvement of the subscriber experience: content discovery, personalization, email newsletters, page performance, messaging relevance, and friction reduction
- Collaborate with editorial, growth, and data teams to optimize end-to-end user journeys from first visit through long-term retention
- Use behavioral data and intent signals to inform experience decisions and personalization opportunities
- Work within and help evolve Inman's subscription management platform (Piano) and related tooling; plus adjacent systems Segment, Sailthru, Snowflake, Holistics, ChurnKey, Revaly
- Think in terms of scalable systems — experimentation infrastructure, feature flagging, analytics pipelines, and content orchestration — not just individual feature requests
- Partner with engineering to influence architectural decisions that support reliability and iteration speed
- Be fluent in funnel analysis, cohort analysis, and experimentation analytics. You should be comfortable interpreting data, identifying patterns, and partnering with analysts to go deeper
- Translate ambiguous signals into actionable product decisions and roadmap priorities
- Ensure instrumentation quality and measurement integrity across growth surfaces
- Work closely with engineering, design, marketing, editorial, and growth stakeholders in a small-team environment where ownership is broad and communication is direct
- Communicate clearly with leadership using structured narratives, metrics, and impact framing
- In a resource-constrained environment without dedicated growth engineering or design support, lead through influence — securing prioritization, coordinating cross-functional work, and ensuring growth initiatives ship end-to-end
Requirements:
- 5+ years of product management experience with significant ownership of consumer subscription or growth products
- Proven track record driving measurable improvements in conversion, retention, or funnel optimization
- Strong quantitative instincts — you can interpret large datasets, design sound experiments, and make data-informed decisions, even if you're not writing SQL daily
- Experience with experimentation platforms and methodologies (A/B testing, multivariate testing, statistical significance, power analysis)
- Experience working with subscription management platforms or paywall systems
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, designers, and business stakeholders on a small team
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Experience operating in small or resource-constrained environments where you personally drove execution rather than relying on large, dedicated teams
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and elevate product thinking in organizations transitioning from reactive or IT-driven execution to outcome-oriented product strategy
- Experience with Piano or similar subscription management platforms
- Familiarity with Sailthru email system
- Experience in digital media, publishing, or content subscription businesses
- Familiarity with SEO, paid acquisition, and lifecycle marketing as they relate to subscription funnels
- Experience building repeatable growth systems and experimentation infrastructure, not just running individual tests
- Exposure to personalization, recommendation systems, or AI-driven optimization
- Hands-on experience in using AI assistance in your workflows for creating documentation and performing data analysis
- Experience in a small-team or startup environment where you owned problems end-to-end
