Otto Aerospace is building the next generation of business aircraft and is seeking a dynamic engineer to support thermal fluid analysis of aircraft subsystems. The role involves performing analysis related to fluid flow and heat transfer, providing technical guidance, and preparing certification compliance documents.
Responsibilities:
- Perform 1-D analysis, as well as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis in support of aircraft subsystem integration, relating to fluid flow and heat transfer
- Provide technical guidance for system owners in thermal science related activities, to include support with system level test planning, execution support, verification, data processing, and troubleshooting
- Support development of engineering specifications and drawings
- Prepare and/or review the thermal fluid content of certification compliance documents
Requirements:
- B.S., in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent
- 2-5 years of experience performing thermodynamic, fluid mechanic and/or heat transfer analysis related to commercial aircraft subsystems
- Experience modeling fluid systems utilizing MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape, Thermal Desktop, and/or STAR-CCM+ software
- Knowledge of environmental control systems common in modern Part 23 / Part 25 business aircraft, including application of fan and pump curves
- Knowledge of FAR Part 23 / Part 25 certification requirements and processes pertinent to aircraft propulsion and environmental control systems
- Knowledge of industry standards and hands-on experience
- Proficiency with Dassault 3DX and/or CATIA V6 to interrogate both 3D and 2D data
