Vetcor is a leading provider of veterinary care, managing a network of 900 veterinary practices across the United States and Canada. They are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data infrastructure that supports enterprise reporting, financial reconciliation, and operational analytics.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, optimize, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines across Azure, Databricks, and SQL environments
- Develop and support ingestion frameworks (API-based and file-based) across multiple external platforms (PIMS, procurement systems, home delivery vendors)
- Implement data quality validation, deduplication logic, reconciliation controls, and financial accuracy checks
- Build Spark/Python-based transformation and orchestration logic within Databricks
- Partner with Finance, Operations, and IT Governance to align data assets with enterprise reporting standards
- Participate in incident management and root cause analysis for production data issues
- Create and maintain technical documentation, playbooks, and knowledge transfer materials to reduce single points of failure
- Support strategic initiatives requiring scalable, resilient, and compliant data architecture
Requirements:
- 5–7+ years of experience in data engineering
- Proven experience designing scalable data pipelines in cloud environments
- Advanced proficiency in SQL
- Strong hands-on experience with Spark and Python
- Deep understanding of ETL/ELT architecture and data pipeline orchestration
- Experience with Azure data services and Databricks
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex data issues quickly
- Advanced knowledge of data governance practices, standards, and compliance frameworks
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret both high-level patterns and granular datasets
- Experience implementing data quality controls and reconciliation processes
- Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field preferred (equivalent experience accepted)
- Master's degree or certifications such as CDMP or DGSP are a plus
