The Lead Systems Engineer will support the development, integration, testing, and verification of complex systems for missionized Gulfstream G550 platforms, leading technical efforts and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive aircraft system requirements, including Concept of Operations (ConOps), system specifications, and schematics
- Create and execute verification and validation plans, including test procedures, ground and flight testing, and certification documentation
- Support the development and review of technical publications such as operating manuals, maintenance instructions, and airworthiness documentation
- Coordinate and participate in technical interchange meetings, program reviews, testing activities, and aircraft field support operations, including travel as necessary
- Leverage expertise in encrypted communications, flight deck missionization, Emissions Control (EMCON), and Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) systems to enhance project outcomes
- Perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting of aircraft electrical and mechanical systems, including working in confined spaces on aircraft
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and standards (MIL, SAE, RTCA, 14 CFR) to inform engineering decisions and ensure compliance
- Contribute to bid proposals and technical requirements documentation for new projects
- Work effectively within a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and supporting requirements management tools such as DOORS, JAMA, or PLM systems
- Support aircraft certification efforts, including compliance with civil (14 CFR Part 25) and military (MIL-HDBK-516) standards
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least 7 years of experience
- Candidates with extensive industry experience, equivalent to 15 years without a degree, are also considered
- Demonstrated expertise in program planning, engineering execution, and aircraft integration
- Candidates must hold an active DoD Secret Security Clearance, with the ability to attain a Top Secret (SCI) Clearance
- Proven experience in managing requirements, conducting verification and validation, and supporting certification processes (civil and military)
- Strong understanding of aircraft systems, technical documentation, and compliance standards (such as MIL, SAE, RTCA, 14 CFR)
- Excellent communication, technical writing, and leadership skills
