Tetra Tech is a leader in water, environment, and sustainable infrastructure, providing high-end consulting and engineering services for projects worldwide. They are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join their Federal Fuels Program team, responsible for the design and management of civil engineering projects related to Department of Defense fixed fueling infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Work in a key project personnel role with direct interaction to Client stakeholders
- Lead and support civil design of projects for DoD fixed fueling infrastructure
- Conduct field investigations, planning studies, and facility assessments for the purpose of identifying deficiencies and proposing recommended solutions
- Perform conceptual and detailed design calculations and analyses
- Prepare project-specific technical specifications in CSI MasterFormat using SpecsIntact
- Prepare labor and materials cost estimates for the level of effort needed to perform civil design and construction tasks at various levels of project development and support proposal efforts
- Manage assigned workload to meet expectations for project scopes and schedules to perform work within the allotted budget
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineering professionals and communicate and coordinate within a project team
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns
- Additional duties as required
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering (BSCE) from an ABET-accredited university
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in one or more states
- Possess 10+ years of professional experience in civil engineering field with 5+ years of technical experience relevant to civil, industrial, and infrastructure associated with bulk fuel delivery and storage systems at U.S. Department of Defense installations
- Experience adapting DoD/Federal standard designs, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) to AFCEC, NAVFAC, and USACE project-specific requirements in SpecsIntact
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards including American Concrete Institute (ACI), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), American Petroleum Institute (API), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Water Works Association (AWWA), and International Building Code (IBC)
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed, approximately 10-15%
- This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on
- Must be able to obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) within the first 6-months of employment and pass a Favorable Background investigation
- Ability to maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Fluent in English language
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective meetings with external Clients and Government stakeholders and internal staff and produce written deliverables such as proposals, technical reports, studies, submittals, and conceptual designs
- Structural Engineering (SE) license or ability to obtain SE licensure is a plus
- API individual certifications (e.g., API 510, 570, 653, etc.) are a plus
- Drafting/design experience with AutoCAD or Revit is desired
- Experience with RISA 3D or Civil 3D is a plus
- Experience with non-building structures not intended for continuous human occupancy is preferred
