Arine is a rapidly growing healthcare technology and clinical services company focused on ensuring individuals receive effective treatments for their healthcare needs. The Staff Engineer / Technical Lead will lead the Document Engineering team, manage technical deliverables, and architect scalable solutions while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and Steer: Operate as the Technical Lead, managing technical deliverables, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical reality
- Systems Architecture: Take ownership of complex systems-level work. You will architect scalable solutions for document generation that integrate seamlessly with our data science and clinical platforms
- Shift Left Champion: Define and enforce "Shift Left" processes. Implement rigorous standards for static analysis, contract testing, security scanning, and pre-commit hooks to catch issues early
- Greenfield Internal Tooling: Architect and build new internal tools from the ground up to streamline operations and improve team efficiency
- Python & Backend Mastery: Utilize deep Python expertise to build high-performance services. You will optimize existing backend processes and develop new libraries for tracing, logging, and schema validation
- Developer Experience (DevEx): Build and maintain developer tooling that supports the wider team, ensuring that local development environments mirror production as closely as possible
- Stakeholder Management: Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of timelines, blockers, and technical feasibility
- Quality & Compliance: Lead efforts in ensuring all document generation processes comply with healthcare regulations (HIPAA), maintaining strict data privacy and security standards
Requirements:
- 10+ Years of Systems & Software Experience: You must have at least a decade of professional experience in software engineering with a specific focus on backend systems, infrastructure, and architecture. This is a strict requirement
- Systems-Level Expertise: Proven history of systems-level work, including infrastructure, networking, and performance tuning. You understand the 'plumbing' of the cloud, not just the application layer
- Python Authority: Deep, demonstrable expertise in Python. You understand internals, memory management, packaging, and advanced typing patterns
- Expert Generalist: A deep T-shaped skillset. While your primary focus is Python and Systems, you possess the generalist ability to jump into frontend code (React/TypeScript), infrastructure, or database optimization whenever the team needs unblocking
- Shift Left Native: You have strong opinions (loosely held) on software standards. You are experienced with CI/CD pipelines, linters, specialized testing frameworks, and ensuring 'quality at speed'
- AWS & Serverless: Extensive experience with AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB) and serverless architecture
- Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in managing resources via CloudFormation for consistent and repeatable deployments
- Security & Compliance Mindset: Experience working with sensitive data (healthcare/finance) and a deep understanding of secure development practices (OWASP, NIST)
- Ability to pass a background check
- Must live in and be eligible to work in the United States
