FedEx is a global logistics and delivery services company, and they are seeking a Systems Engineer l-V Op to analyze operational performance and implement technology systems related to facility and material handling. The role involves utilizing engineering tools, preparing expenditure proposals, and providing engineering support to vendors and facility maintenance staff.
Responsibilities:
- Analyzes performance data within engineering
- Utilizes engineering tools and software to analyze data and answers basic engineering questions
- Researches, analyzes, and effectively consolidates technical or engineering related information and presents for management review
- Prepares, with management guidance, accurate expenditure proposals and/or cost justification analysis
- Formulates and presents document research, progress, and results. Interacts with team members and internal customers
- Applies project management fundamentals and concepts with management guidance. Develops progress reports, meeting minutes, and field communication memos for management review
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Develops a thorough knowledge of engineering design standards
- Provides 24 hour/7day engineering support to vendors and facility maintenance staff in the resolution and prevention of control system problems and breakdowns
- Evaluates sortation system operations and recommends material handling system improvements to increase capacity or improve efficiency of existing systems and processes
- Supports system implementation of package damage reduction initiatives
- Trains field facility maintenance staff on available tools, new technologies, and troubleshooting techniques
- Performs audits of control system software back-ups to prevent loss of production due to equipment failure
- Assists in coordination efforts of various groups in the resolution of equipment breakdowns
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field required
- None required
- Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications
- Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management
- Presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals
- Time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to work in a fast-paced environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy to achieve daily assignments and goals
- Ability to analyze, review, and make recommendations
- Working knowledge of PLC based automated systems, electrical and electronic test/troubleshooting systems, and motor control methods required
- Ability and flexibility to travel up to 50% of the time is required
