MMC Group LP is hiring for a highly experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to lead the operational excellence, stability, and security of enterprise-scale AWS environments for clients in the National Security space. This hands-on role involves maintaining high availability, optimizing performance, and ensuring compliance across various ecosystems while collaborating with DevOps, Security, Development, and Operations teams.
Responsibilities:
- Deploy and support applications across dev, staging, and production environments
- Build reusable CI/CD pipelines and standardized deployment frameworks
- Configure and manage GitLab runners, secure environment variables, and secret handling
- Implement version control strategies and rollback procedures
- Troubleshoot and optimize deployment pipelines for reliability and speed
- Architect and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure
- Deploy and optimize AWS Lambda functions, including monitoring and performance tuning
- Containerize and deploy workloads using ECS, EKS, and Kubernetes
- Configure readiness and liveness probes for containerized services
- Design and execute regional failover strategies and disaster recovery plans
- Develop and test recovery playbooks aligned to defined RTO and RPO requirements
- Develop custom CloudWatch metrics, alarms, and dashboards
- Monitor application and infrastructure health using CloudWatch, AWS CLI, and Lambda scripts
- Perform root cause analysis and incident correlation
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation supporting production systems
- Lead patch assessment and maintenance planning for infrastructure and third-party software
- Develop structured testing and rollout plans with rollback procedures
- Maintain inventory of licensed software across AWS environments
- Manage change control documentation in Agile delivery environments
- Ensure cloud environments meet security and compliance standards
- Develop automation using Python, Bash, YAML, JSON, and Node.js
- Build pre-check and post-deployment validation scripts
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and CloudFormation
- Continuously improve deployment efficiency, reliability, and scalability
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years of IT experience, including 5+ years supporting cloud infrastructure
- Strong hands-on AWS experience (Lambda, ECS, EKS, CloudWatch)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and CloudFormation)
- CI/CD experience using GitHub, GitLab, or Kubernetes-based pipelines
- Automation and scripting expertise (Python and Bash required)
- AWS certification (DevOps Engineer or Solutions Architect preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance
- Advanced cloud performance and scalability troubleshooting
- Deep container orchestration expertise (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes)
- Experience working within regulated or federal environments
- Familiarity with ITIL-based incident and change management practices
