The Director- Software Engineering leads platform and data engineering functions, defining and executing the technology, data, and AI strategy that supports growth, compliance, and innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Define and execute multi quarter technology, platform, and data roadmaps aligned with business objectives
- Lead architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise platforms supporting cold chain orchestration, analytics and automation
- Establish data and AI infrastructure including data lakes, pipelines, and governance frameworks
- Integrate predictive analytics and AI models into products and operations
- Evaluate emerging AI and platform technologies for scalability, cost efficiency, and regulatory alignment
- Partner with Product, Finance, and Executive Leadership to prioritize investments and track measurable results
- Build, mentor, and retain senior engineering talent; promote diversity, inclusion and accountability
- Implement scaled Agile delivery processes and maintain performance dashboards for velocity, reliability, and quality
- Govern technology budgets and resource allocation across projects and platforms
- Partner with Security, Compliance, and Legal to ensure all solutions meet regulatory standards such as HIPAA, GxP, and SOC 2
- Direct research and development for AI, data, and IoT initiatives; transition validated pilots into production platforms
- Serve as the primary technology liaison to executive stakeholders, communicating progress, risk, and ROI with clarity
- Converts business strategy into platform and data execution plans that scale
- Builds a resilient engineering organization that delivers reliable and compliant technology
- Ensures architectural coherence, measurable performance, and sustained innovation
- Serves as the executive partner guiding long-term platform growth and intelligent systems adoption
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline (required)
- 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing multiple engineering teams (e.g., Senior Engineering Manager, Director- Engineering)
- Demonstrated success defining and delivering large-scale technology initiatives in a regulated environment (e.g., life sciences, logistics), with accountability for P&L or equivalent budget ownership
- Proven track record building and scaling high-performing engineering organizations, recruiting senior talent, and developing leaders
- Data Engineering and analytics platforms including Spark, Kafka, Airflow, and dbt
- Data modeling, governance, lineage, and metadata management
- Machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and MLflow
- Backend and frontend technologies including Java, Python, Go, react, and Angular
- Microservices and event driven architectures using domain driven design principles
- Cloud infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure with Kubernetes and Docker
- CI and CD automation, infrastructure as code, and observability platforms
- Secure architecture and compliance frameworks ensuring continuous audit readiness
- Owns platform, data, and AI strategy that drives operational and business performance
- Leads architectural vision and ensures scalable, secure, and compliant systems
- Develops engineering leaders and builds a strong management bench
- Promotes responsible AI and ethical data practices
- Aligns engineering, product, and data priorities for unified execution
- Communicates technology direction and investment outcomes to executive leadership
- Oversees budget, resource, and performance governance across multiple teams
- Drives innovation through platform modernization and applied research. Embeds security, privacy, and reliability into every layer of development
