Senior Data & Analytics Engineer (USA - Remote)

Gurobi Optimization is focused on mathematical optimization, empowering customers to make smarter decisions. They are seeking a Senior Data & Analytics Engineer to design, build, and maintain a modern BI data pipeline, transforming raw data into reliable business-ready datasets while mentoring team members and leading technical execution of the data strategy.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines from ingestion through transformation and delivery
• Design, build, and maintain our data warehouse and data marts
• Build scalable ELT workflows using modern data stack tools
• Develop and maintain our data transformations using SQL and Python
• Lead and maintain our dbt setup and data modeling standards
• Ensure data quality, testing, documentation, and governance best practices
• Build and maintain Git-based workflows and CI/CD for data projects
• Partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into clean data models
• Mentor junior team members and promote engineering best practices
• Evaluate, implement, and integrate tools such as reverse ETL platforms to operationalize warehouse data

Requirements:

• 5+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or similar roles
• Strong SQL and Python skills (required)
• Experience building and maintaining production-grade data pipelines
• Experience designing data models and analytics-ready data marts
• Hands-on experience with modern cloud data warehouses (BigQuery is a plus)
• Strong experience with dbt in a production environment
• Experience with Git-based version control and CI/CD workflows
• Strong data modeling fundamentals
• Ability to design scalable, maintainable data systems
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
• Passion for clean, reliable, well-documented data
• Ability to mentor and raise the bar for others
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Experience working within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments (preferred)
• Familiarity with ELT tools (Fivetran is a plus)
• Exposure to reverse ETL tools is a plus
• Experience with data analysis and BI tools — we are a small, high-impact team and value engineers who can occasionally operate across the full analytics stack
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to operate independently and drive initiatives forward
• Comfort operating in a fast-moving, growing company
• Experience building a modern data platform from early-stage or greenfield environments is a strong plus
