Florida Blue is part of GuideWell and is seeking a Senior IT Systems Engineer to monitor, install, configure, administer, troubleshoot, and maintain technology solutions. The role involves providing technical support, driving automation enhancements, and leading initiatives while overseeing work results and training other Systems Engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain WebSphere MQ environments, including installation, configuration, and upgrades
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of MQ infrastructure
- Monitor and troubleshoot MQ issues, collaborating with development teams to resolve problems
- Develop and implement MQ backup and recovery strategies
- Administer and maintain Kafka Infrastructure
- Provide technical expertise and support for MQ and Kafka applications
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience with WebSphere MQ (or equivalent messaging experience)
- Strong knowledge of MQ architecture, configuration, and administration
- Experience with Kafka
- Ideally, experience with AWS (e.g., MQ on AWS, AWS services integration)
- Ideally, experience with mainframe environments (e.g., z/OS, zMQ)
- Strong understanding of messaging concepts, protocols, and standards (e.g., AMQP, JMS)
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Unix shell, Perl, Python)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
- IBM Certified MQ Administrator (or equivalent)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect (or equivalent)
- 5-8 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of transferable experience demonstrating proficiency and experience in design, implementation, monitoring and troubleshooting technology
- Related bachelor's degree in an IT related field or relevant work experience
- Experience with MQ on AWS or other cloud platforms
- Experience with mainframe environments (e.g., z/OS, zMQ)
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Ansible, Docker)
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, ELK)
