The Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) will enhance the reliability and performance of systems that power wwt.com, collaborating closely with development teams to address complex technical challenges and drive operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the reliability and performance of wwt.com and our critical, high-traffic services
- Drive improvements in key user experience metrics such as page load speed and interactivity
- Develop and implement monitoring and alerting strategies to proactively identify and address issues before they impact users
- Lead the triage and resolution of incidents, navigate complex production challenges, identify root causes, and implement lasting solutions
- Collaborate with developers and QA engineers to share knowledge, influence best practices, and foster a culture of reliability and continuous improvement
- Write code to automate tasks and solve problems, reducing manual intervention and increasing efficiency
- Plan and execute load testing to assess system scalability and performance, thoroughly investigate any issues uncovered, and implement effective solutions
- Take ownership of reviewing penetration test results, collaborating with relevant teams to address vulnerabilities and ensure our platforms meet high security and reliability standards
- Guide and mentor team members, providing technical leadership and helping shape engineering decisions
- Stay curious and committed to learning, embracing a growth mindset and encouraging innovation across the team
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or in a similar role supporting mission-critical, high-traffic environments
- Strong programming experience with web technologies such as: Vue, Angular, React, NodeJS, Python, Go, or Java
- Proven experience with monitoring, alerting, and incident management for complex systems
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve production issues, driving root cause analysis and implementing effective fixes
- Thorough understanding of all stages of software development
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience leading or mentoring other engineers and influencing technical direction
- Excellent communication skills, with a track record of building relationships, educating peers, and influencing technical direction

- Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or Management Information Systems; A combination of education, training and experience may be considered instead of a degree
- Must be authorized to work within the (US) United States
