Staff Software Engineer (Consumer - Advanced Trading)

Coinbase is a company on a mission to increase economic freedom in the world. They are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the front-end technical strategy for their advanced trading platform, focusing on performance improvements and mentoring a team of engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to define and execute a technical roadmap for a reliable, scalable trading platform
• Lead the technical initiative to deliver a low latency interface for experienced traders across all platforms
• Provide technical guidance and career mentorship to engineers. You will anchor complex projects and ensure high standards for code quality and system design

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, specifically within modern front-end frameworks and mobile environments
• Proven track record of optimizing complex systems, with a focus on rendering performance, network efficiency, and state management
• Demonstrated leadership ability, including experience mentoring senior engineers and driving organizational improvements
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical challenges into actionable plans for stakeholders
• You have gone through a rapid growth in your company (from 10 to 100s of engineers)
• You have experience building a low latency trading system
• You have experience with Blockchains (such as Bitcoin, Ethereum etc.)
• You have experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices
• You've worked with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgres
• Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services
