Novolex is a leading manufacturer of food, beverage, and specialty packaging that supports multiple industries. The Senior Supply Chain Automation Engineer will be responsible for developing and executing the automation strategic plan for Supply Chain, optimizing distribution center performance and identifying automation solutions to support the Supply Chain strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Lead efforts to identify and vet automation opportunities to improve the productivity of Novolex’s Distribution facilities using automation
- Responsible for large scale CapEx projects across 12 million square feet of warehouse and distribution center space across the US
- Responsible for scoping, designing, and implementation of automation equipment/systems which include but are not limited to: AGV’s, racking, stretchwrappers, auto load/unload equipment, AI technologies, product conveying, etc
- Oversee and develop retrofit/refurbishment projects for existing automation equipment to improve productivity and reliability
- Perform vetting analysis for all projects, encompassing financial, operational and technical analysis
- Organize and lead cross functional teams with members from Engineering, Finance, Operations, Production Planning and Safety
- Responsible for coordinating and performing 2P’s, Time Studies, Flow Diagrams, and FMEA (Process and Machine) for all concepts and final designs
- Develops, writes, implements, submits and/or presents various technical reports and CERs in support of cost reduction, new product, reliability and safety initiatives
- Review and support the creation of technical specifications for automation & packaging equipment
- Manage all aspects of medium-to-large capital projects
- Monthly project status and budget status reporting
- Organize training on setup, operation and maintenance of new & existing equipment, including the creation of standard work and maintenance documentation
- Develops best practices for process improvements at both the corporate and Distribution Center levels
- Build and manage strong relations with both new/existing vendors and contractors
- Instruct, direct and mentor team members as well as contractors
- Acts as internal consultant providing support & guidance on the most complex projects and problems by applying creativity, innovation, tools, methods, and techniques integrated with technical insights
- Up to 50% Travel
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required
- 10+ years of applicable experience in the areas of Distribution, operations, engineering, automation & process development
- Demonstrated application of complex concepts, practices and procedures within engineering field
- Has a fundamental understanding of first principles required in the design and implementation of automation systems
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and motivational skills
- Solid communications skills, both written and verbal, are required
- Ability to manage multiple projects and establish priorities
- Ability to speak fluidly in financial terms both internally, within the organization, and externally, to suppliers
- Lean Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering experience preferred
- Previous managerial experience preferred
